Job Description:
Examiners-in-Charge (EICs) manage market conduct examinations.

Key Responsibilities:
Examiners-in-Charge (EICs) will:
  • Manage market conduct examinations for the lines of business in which they have expertise.

  • Oversee Underwriting, Rating, Marketing, Sales, Claims Handling, Complaint, Policyholder Service and Operations/Management reviews.

  • Supervise a team of examiners for all examination areas.

  • Work with the Company’s coordinator to strive for an efficient examination.

  • Properly document and summarize findings.

  • Prepare draft market conduct reports that logically link to supporting records and are free of typographical and grammatical errors.

  • Ensure all examination materials and documentation, (such as budget spreadsheets, request logs, etc.) are accurate and complete.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree. (Related work experience may be substituted for up to 2 years of required education).

  • Four or more years regulatory work experience; at least two of which are as an examiner.

  • CIE insurance designation.

  • In-depth knowledge of examination standards and processes as shown in the NAIC's Market Regulation Handbook.

  • Effective written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to adapt to frequently changing priorities.

  • Experience as a team leader.

  • Strong analytical abilities.

  • Be self-motivated.

  • Balance between a strong attention to detail and the ability to identify larger, unseen market issues.

  • Ability to travel up to 75% on a sporadic basis. (Relocation is not required.)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.)

  • Experience with examination software such as TeamMate and ACL.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Have a working knowledge of all examination areas and the NAIC’s examination standards.

  • Other insurance industry designations such as FLMI, CPCU, CLU, AIRC, CFE (Financial) and CFE (Fraud).
