Job Description:
Market Conduct Examiners review insurance company records and materials to identify areas of potential concern.

Key Responsibilities:
Market Conduct Examiners will:
  • Participate on market conduct examinations for the lines of business in which they have expertise.

  • Perform reviews in examination areas, such as Underwriting, Rating, Marketing, Sales, Claims Handling, Complaint, Policyholder Service and Operations/Management.

  • Assist the Examiner-in-Charge in ensuring an efficient and effective examination.

  • Properly document and summarize findings for criticisms and report.

  • Assist in writing the market conduct examination report.

  • Update examination documents, such as budget spreadsheets, request logs, etc...

  • Perform other continuum actions where applicable.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree. (Related work experience may be substituted for up to 2 years of required education).

  • Two or more years insurance industry or regulatory work experience.

  • AIE, CIE, or MCM insurance designation.

  • Familiarity with the NAIC’s Market Regulation Handbook.

  • Be self-motivated.

  • Strong analytical abilities.

  • Ability to adapt to frequently changing priorities.

  • Effective written and oral communication skills.

  • Capacity to work both independently and in a team environment.

  • Ability to travel up to 75% on a sporadic basis. (Relocation is not required.)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of market conduct examination standards and processes as shown in the NAIC’s Market Regulation Handbook.

  • Experience with examination software such as TeamMate and ACL.

  • Other insurance industry designations such as FLMI, CPCU, CLU, AIRC, CFE (Financial) and CFE (Fraud).
